On Location in Cape York, Australia

We are recently returned for a wonderful week with Greg Bethune's Carpenteria Seafaris. Australia's Cape York was a wild place filled with huge croc's, flying foxes, and a bunch of different species we had never previously seen. It is probably the furthest out there we have been in awhile. In fact, we spent six days of traveling for five and a half days of fishing. Check out the travel itinerary. Detroit Metro to LAX to Brisbaine to Cairns to Bamaga to Sesia to board the Tropic Paradise then a full days "steam" to the McDonald River system. Suffice it to say, being that far out and down under left our internal clocks a little bit off! Unfortunately, the nasty weather put quite a damper on the flats fishing (it blew 40 Nauts non stop and it rained 90% of the time), but such is life.

Even still, we caught tuna, Diamond Trevally, GTs, Golden Trevally, Barramundi, Queenies, Ladyfish, and a bunch of other random species. A highlight of the trip was Grant's first Indo-Pacific Permit. Sorry for the "Grip and Grin" shot, but we are saving our good stuff for the photo journal and forthcoming article...Stay tuned!

In the meantime check out Carpentaria Seafaris website.
